Grant Amount: $176,287 (18-month grant) AIDS Project East Bay (Oakland) for a group level intervention with secondary level individual activities serving HIV positive African American men who have sex with men. The primary goal of the project is to reduce the rate of unprotected sex by decreasing social isolation, providing peer support, and building communication and safer sex negotiation skills. Bienestar Human Services (Los Angeles) for Mano a Mano culturally rich, gender and sexual orientation specific interventions for HIV positive Latino men who have sex with men. The project will incorporate prevention case management as well as skill building action groups for individuals and serodiscordant couples. Cal-Pep/Tranquillium Center (Northern Alameda and Western Contra Costa Counties) in collaboration to conduct formative research with HIV positive African American sex workers and substance users. Grant Amount: $12,298 Watts Health Systems (Los Angeles) for primary prevention services to men of color who have sex with men and women of color. Interventions will include support groups and peer mentoring. Grant Amount: $237,265. Grant Amount: $10,000 July 2002 - June 2003Prevention with Positive People of Color Initiative AIDS Project Los Angeles to reduce HIV transmission from people of color with HIV by reducing risk behaviors and increasing disclosure of serostatus to partners and treatment adherence. Grant Amount: $65,000 Bienestar Human Services (Los Angeles) for Mano a Mano to continue this program for an additional year, beginning December 2002. Grant Amount $120,000. William Bland, to conduct research regarding the HIV prevention needs of young, HIV+, African American MSM. Contract Amount: $45,000 CompassPoint Nonprofit Services (San Francisco) to provide technical assistance to community-based organizations providing or planning to provide HIV prevention services for people of color with HIV. Contract Amount: $250,000 (two- year grant). Continuum HIV Day Services (San Francisco) to convene a planning group of service providers in the Tenderloin that will study prevention and care service integration issues for HIV positive inmates and ex-offenders of color and produce a report on system integration with recommendations and best practices. Grant Amount: $49,500. LaFrance & Associates and Alan Pardini to evaluate technical assistance services (through CompassPoint) and grantmaking strategies. Contract Amount: $60,000 (two-year grant) Los Angeles Shanti Foundation to create a demonstration project that will illustrate effective methods of strengthening the vital and necessary linkages between care and prevention providers, while simultaneously creating innovative and practical models for client referrals and for delivering HIV prevention messages to positive people of color. Grant Amount: $49,999. Los Angeles Shanti Foundation to assist men and women of color with HIV and their partners to reduce transmission and risk behaviors while sustaining health and quality of life. Grant Amount: $65,000 San Diego County Health and Human Services to cross-train care and treatment, counseling and testing, and prevention providers so that providers are educated in the basic messages of each discipline; to conduct an assessment of publicly funded HIV Counseling and Testing services to assess for concentrations and gaps; and finally to research and further develop a coordinated services model for prevention for positives specific to people of color. (The Council of Community Clinics is the fiscal agent) Grant Amount: $50,000 Vista Community Clinic (San Diego County) to conduct formative research and implement individual, group, and community level interventions with migrant workers with HIV. Grant Amount: $55,000 Capacity Building GrantsAIDS Project of the East Bay (Oakland): Conduct Board development training, including a retreat, as well as leadership training for the Executive Director. Grant Amount: $8,500 Asian and Pacific Islander Wellness Center (San Francisco): Expand strategic decision making, provide an enhanced vision and guidance for organizational and program planning, increase the efficiency and effectiveness of program evaluation, and increase their ability to tap unrestricted income. Grant Amount: $20,000. Central City Lutheran Mission (San Bernardino): Initiate a fund development program, including the development of a donor base and focused grant writing. Enhance the ability of the Chief Operating Officer to manage an increased number of contracts. Grant Amount: $20,000. El Concilio of San Mateo County (San Mateo): Develop a broad strategy to build the overall capability to provide HIV education services to Latinos in San Mateo County. Improve data collection systems and procedures and expand the promotores program to focus on young adult Latina population. Grant Amount: $20,000. Continuum (San Francisco): Establish the position of Human Resources Coordinator who will formalize the human resources structure and support quality assurance by coordinating effective trainings for managers and staff resulting in the retention of a more diverse and skilled staff. Grant Amount: $20,000. Correct HELP (Los Angeles): Implement a Fiscal Fitness Plan to increase their capacity to engage in sound financial management and planning in anticipation of the independent incorporation of the organization. Support independent incorporation and build the knowledge base of management and Board for successful financial leadership in the future. Grant Amount: $20,000. Foothill AIDS Project (Claremont): Establish a Development Committee comprised of Board Members, the grant writer, and key staff to create a fund development plan, developing a one-year public relations and fundraising plan with deliverables, and developing an annual activity calendar. Grant Amount: $10,000. Golden Rule Services (Sacramento): Strengthen the agency infrastructure by employing a strategic planning consultant, a fund development consultant, and a CPA to assist with fiscal management. Grant Amount: $11,500. Hollywood Sunset Free Clinic (Los Angeles): Conduct a feasibility study for a fee-based tattoo removal service and other potential income generating services. Grant Amount: $20,000. Pacific Pride Foundation (Santa Barbara): Conduct a community needs assessment and organizational assessment. Inventory staff and agency core competencies and determine sustainability of services. Grant Amount: $20,000. Sexual Minority Alliance of Alameda County Youth Center (Oakland): Increase the ability to manage and report revenues and expenses and decrease current accounting costs. Conduct grantwriting to improve and increase HIV prevention services to HIV positive youth and transgendered youth. Grant Amount: $20,000. Tenderloin AIDS Resource Center (San Francisco): Develop a five-year strategic plan and conduct an offsite retreat. Grant Amount: $19,866.
